Building your immunity and staying healthy

All the things that are good for you in general are good for your immune system. As triune beings, it’s important that we are keeping our minds and spirits healthy in addition to our bodies!

Drink pure water. Now is the time to ensure that you, your family and your pets are drinking water that is free from toxins, heavy metals, dissolved pharmaceuticals, carcinogens and other hazards substances. Most water filters only affect your water’s taste but leave the harmful stuff in. Consider upgrading for your family’s health. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has information on their website about a variety of water purification options here https://www.ewg.org/healthyhomeguide/water-filters/ They also have a tap water database so you can see what’s in your municipal water: https://www.ewg.org/tapwater/

Eat organic foods as much as possible. Glyphosate (in Round-Up) is sprayed on most conventionally grown food and interferes with your immune system, as do the other pesticides and herbicides.

Eat fermented veggies (kraut, carrots, etc) daily 1-2 tablespoons/day, or take a probiotic. This helps your gut microbiome stay healthy. Fermented foods are the best option because they contain hundreds of strains of beneficial bacteria. If you don’t like fermented foods, you can take a probiotic, but I no longer recommend them for daily use. Look for one with more strains and a higher CFU count. I like one with at least 10 billion CFU, and at least 6-8 strains of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacter. I also like the soil-based organism probiotics like MegaSporeBiotic. Alternate between brands/strains to help maintain diversity in your gut microbiome.

Eat cod liver oil or liver. Cod liver oil is an excellent source of vitamins A and D. Whenever possible it’s best to get your vitamins and minerals from food. Cod liver oil is actual food, thus it’s one of the preferred ways to get vitamins A and D. Another good source is liver.

Take a quality multivitamin. My favorite brands: Global Healing, Premier Research, Klaire, Designs for Health, Thorne, Douglas, OrthoMolecular, Pure Encapsulations. In general, you get what you pay for.

Move your body! Staying as active as you can has a multitude of health benefits!

Get some sunshine on your bare skin (without a sunscreen). Your body makes vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. Plus, sunlight is very healing! If you burn easily, plan to go out when the sun isn’t as bright – such as in the morning or late afternoon. Expose as much skin as you can while in the sun to maximize your vitamin production.

Touch the earth (dirt, grass, concrete, sand, brick) with your bare feet (this is called grounding).

Cultivate relationships, gather with friends, hug people.

Turn off your TV. Fear damages your immune system. Be very careful about where you get your news. I recommend avoiding main stream media news outlets completely.

Minimize WiFi exposure. All the things that transmit without a cord are interfering with our immune systems. More information about WiFi, including why and how to limit your exposure can be found here: https://drpattypowers.com/the-hidden-threat-to-your-hormones/
