Vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, excess mucous and sweating are all pathways your body uses to rid itself of the substance. Fevers are your body\u2019s way of raising the temperature to a level such that a harmful organism can\u2019t survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n General advice regarding fevers, coughs, runny noses, diarrhea, etc:<\/strong> These are the body\u2019s ways of detoxifying and it\u2019s best to not suppress them. If you do suppress them, then it seems to take longer to heal. The wise pediatrician, Dr Larry Palevsky, has some sound advice for kids that also translates nicely to adults. It is NOT a good idea to use Tylenol, ibuprofen, antihistamines and other over the counter cold medicines to suppress your symptoms.
